Two physical Servers were required for a project which required high availability to run a SCADA System on a Chemical plant, one physical Server will be the main Server and the other will be a hot-standby Server in case the main Server fails
Two physical HP ML310e Gen8 v2 Servers were purchased along with Microsoft Windows Server, once Windows Server and Hyper-V was installed on each Server a Windows Server Hyper-V machine was built and was configured for the SCADA System. A Backup system was created to automatically backup the Windows Server Hyper-V machine with the SCADA System every day.
Two physical servers were installed on-site and connected to the site LAN, the local SCADA desktop machines and site PLC’s were connected to the Windows Server Hyper-V machine and were all tested.
Main Server was then shutdown and local SCADA desktop machines and site PLC’s were connected to the Windows Server Hyper-V machine on this Server and all was found to be working as expected.
